Change in Simpl’s due dates

As we’ve grown, we’d made several changes to the service. About a year ago, we extended our due dates from 1 day to 10 days. Over the last year, we’ve seen a few problems with giving 10 days.

  1. People just need enough time to review their bill, and flag any issues to us. This typically takes 2-3 days.
  1. Stretching the due date over 10 days mean people tend to forget. So then we then need to send more reminders, which again can be irritating.

It didn't seem to make business sense to give more time when most users didn't require it. So we’ve decided to push the due date back by 5 days. The billing cycle still remains 15 days, but the due date has been changed to 20th and 5th of every month. This will be effective from September 2018 onwards.

All orders made between 1st and 15th are added up and payable before the 20th. And all orders made between 16th and the last day of the month(29th, 30th or 31st) are added up and payable before the 5th of the next month.

Yes, this also means that the fine date will also move to the 20th and 5th. But we will not be enforcing it in the current cycle. It will be enforced from the next cycle onwards(for bills generated on September 30th, 2018).
